Hijabi makeovers for Muslim women
Most fashion is a form of self expression but the Islamic headscarf (or hijab) is exactly the opposite, about modesty and attracting as little attention as possible.
However a growing number of young Muslim women are combining the two. They adapt mainstream fashion trends to fit the hijab requirements in covering everything but the face and hands while looking trendy and modern.
Shaimaa Khalil visited east London for a hijabi makeover from designer Hana Tajima Simpson as she asks whether being fashionable contradicts the essence of wearing a headscarf.
